About Open a Gift

Open a Gift turns a message and an optional photo into something to open: a gift box to unwrap, candles to blow out, a scratch card, a snow globe. You make it at openagift.com/create, and you get a link. You share that link yourself — in WhatsApp, iMessage, email, or any chat. The person who opens it needs nothing installed and no account.

The site lives at openagift.com and the product is called Open a Gift. It is small on purpose: one sender, one recipient, one link.

People who want to send something warmer than a text and lighter than a parcel: a birthday card from another city, a thank-you with a photo attached, a sorry, a miss-you at midnight. It works the same on a phone and on a desktop.

Open a Gift is free to create, send and open. There is no signup and no app for either side, no ads and no watermark on the gift, and gifts are automatically deleted: after 30 days with a photo, or 60 days without a photo, measured from creation. It opens in any phone or desktop browser, straight from WhatsApp, iMessage, email or any chat.

Every reveal opens to the same thing — your card with your photo and words. The reveal is how they get there:

• Gift Box — Pull the ribbon, lift the lid, and watch the card pop out.
• One Match — Strike a match in the dark — its glow lights up your photo and words.
• Frost — Wipe away the frosted glass to slowly bring your photo into view.
• Cake — Slice the cake open to reveal your photo and message in the filling.
• Bouquet — Tap, and a bouquet blooms open to reveal your words.
• Fortune Cookie — Crack the cookie — your message slides out on the fortune slip.
• Virtual Hug — They press and hold — warmth spreads until your words appear.
• Bubble Wrap — Pop your way through — the photo shows as the bubbles go.
• Snow Globe — Shake the globe — a blizzard swirls, then clears to your photo.
• Scratch Card — Silver foil over your surprise — they scratch it off with a finger.
• Surprise Egg — Tap the egg until it cracks open and the surprise hatches out.
• Blow Out the Candles — Candles they blow out — with a real breath if their mic allows, or a swipe.

Card designs: Classic, Birthday, Confetti, Love, Floral, Gold, Starry, Holiday, Baby, Kraft, Letter, Certificate, Santa, Crescent. Any card can be paired with any reveal.

So nobody is surprised later:

• No physical delivery. Nothing is printed or posted; the gift is the link.
• No automatic sending. You can seal a gift so it stays locked until a time you choose, but you still share the link yourself.
• No group signing. Each gift has one sender.
• No AI-written text. The words are yours (or one of our editable suggestions).
• No permanent links. Gifts with a photo are deleted 30 days after creation; gifts without a photo after 60 days.
• No email notifications. When the recipient reacts, you see it on your manage link — we do not email you.
• No accounts, no passwords, no payment, no ads or watermark on the gift.
