A small moment, thoughtfully planned
A little thanks, across the table or across Canada
Canadian Thanksgiving is Monday, October 12, 2026. Thank the person who hosted, checked in or made a hard week easier. One specific memory makes a warmer card than a long list of things you ought to be grateful for.

Choose the person, then make it yours
Family in another province
Bring one memory to a short call. You do not have to recreate the whole dinner on camera.
- Agree on a comfortable call time in both cities, away from the busiest part of the meal.
- Write one thing your family did for you this year, then share the finished card link.
- Take turns telling one story. If the call is brief, leave a voice note they can play later.
“Thank you for always making room for me at your table. I’m thinking of you this Thanksgiving, even from another province.”Start with this message →
The person hosting
Name the work you noticed. A card the next morning can be more welcome than another interruption during dinner.
- After the gathering, choose one detail you genuinely appreciated.
- Edit the card with that memory; a simple text-only card is enough.
- Send the link in your usual chat. Offer a concrete way to help next time, if you mean it.
“Thank you for the meal, the welcome and all the work we didn’t see. I loved having time around your table.”Start with this message →
A friend who showed up
Thanksgiving can be a reason to say something specific to a friend, whether or not they celebrate the holiday.
- Choose the action you want to thank them for, rather than a generic holiday greeting.
- Use their name and your own voice. Remove the holiday reference if it does not fit.
- Send it privately, with no request that they reply or share it.
“I keep thinking about the way you checked in when things were hard. Thank you for being there — it meant more than I said.”Start with this message →
Try the surprise before you make one
This is a live example of the recipient’s opening experience. Interact with it, then choose your own words and optional photo in the maker. The example does not create or send a gift.

A three-line message is plenty
Start with what they did, say how it helped, and close with a wish or an invitation. For example: ‘Thank you for calling each Sunday. Those conversations helped the move feel less lonely. I’d love to cook for you next time we visit.’
You can acknowledge a difficult year without asking someone to feel cheerful. ‘I’m glad we can talk’ may fit better than ‘We have so much to be thankful for.’ If the holiday is not meaningful to them, send a simple thank-you instead.
A ten-minute moment for faraway family
Before the call, ask everyone to bring one memory or one ordinary thing they appreciated this week. Let each person take a turn. Keep the camera optional and skip putting anyone on the spot.
One adult can make a personal card and share its link during the call. Open a Gift does not collect signatures from a group: each card is made by one sender. For a family message, agree on the wording separately, then have one person enter it.
When to make and send it
Make the card close to your gathering and send the link yourself by text, WhatsApp or email. The product does not email it on a schedule. If your plan changes, you control when you share the link.
A photo gift is deleted 30 days after it is created; a gift without a photo is deleted after 60 days. Making an October card in September can leave less time for the recipient to revisit it, so prepare the wording now and create the final gift nearer the day.
