The classic stack of envelopes, without the envelopes. Write two to eight short letters, each for a moment: when they miss you, when they can't sleep, when they need a laugh. Send one link; they open your gift, then pick the letter that fits the moment.
Your main card opens first; the open-when envelopes wait under it, each with the label you wrote.

Try the demo: pull the ribbon to open the box. In your gift, the envelopes appear under the card.
Start your letters →Open the maker with four open-when labels ready; change them or add more.
Write a short letter under each label, plus your main card message.
Send the link. After your card, they see the envelopes and open them one by one.
Keep each letter short and specific to its moment. “Open when you can't sleep” can be a memory of a quiet night together; “Open when you need a laugh” can be the story only the two of you find funny. Three or four sentences are plenty.
Write the main card as the introduction: why you made these, and that they can open one whenever they need it. Add a voice message if hearing you would help on the hard days.
Open-when letters are for moments that don't have a date. A time capsule is one letter sealed until a date you choose, with a countdown until then. You can also combine them: seal the whole gift until a day, with the letters inside.
A set of letters, each labelled for a moment: “Open when you miss me”, “Open when you've had a bad day”, “Open on your birthday”. The person you give them to opens each one when that moment comes. They are a classic long-distance and going-away gift.
Start from this page: the maker opens with four labels ready. Edit the labels, write a short letter under each (up to 400 characters), add at least two, then create the link and send it in any chat.
Between two and eight. Each has a label of up to 60 characters and a letter of up to 400 characters, about 70 words.
They can: the letters are not locked by date. The fun is in waiting for the moment, and each envelope they open is marked as read on their phone. For letters that must stay closed until a date, seal the whole gift or use the countdown calendar.
Open when you miss me, can't sleep, need a laugh, have had a bad day, are proud of yourself, need a hug, doubt yourself, and on your birthday. Specific moments you share work best: “Open when it rains in Lisbon”.
The gift and its link stay until the sender deletes it; photos and voice messages are deleted 30 days after creation, and the gift then opens without them. Opening or replaying it never uses it up. If the gift has a photo, the recipient can save the photo from the opened card.
Same photo and words, a different thing for them to open.
Free, no signup. Add a photo and your words, and send the link.
Write open-when lettersOpen a Gift is a free website for sending a virtual gift by link: a message, an optional photo and voice message inside an interactive reveal (15 reveals, 14 card designs) that the recipient opens in their browser. It is free to create, send and open. There is no signup and no app for either side, and no watermark on the gift. Gifts are private: only people with the link can open one. The link keeps working until the sender deletes the gift; photos and voice messages are stored for 30 days, then deleted. It opens in any phone or desktop browser, straight from WhatsApp, iMessage, email or any chat.
